Children’s Ministries
We at Ascension place a high value upon the education of our children in the Christian faith. As such, we offer an array of educational opportunities to help them continue on their faith journey. Our programs are designed to teach the word of God in a manner they not only understand but enjoy.
Rotation Sunday School:This program is for children from pre-school age through the 5th grade. The program is held on Sunday mornings from 9:15 – 10:15 a.m. In this program we utilize repetition to share the Good News and teach the Bible to our children. The children will hear one Bible story in several different ways, thus increasing their overall understanding and retention of key concepts. We have a curriculum team who work together to choose the key stories and then develop lesson plans to fit the room themes we utilize. We offer lessons in the following rooms:
- Rainbow Reef - Arts and Crafts
- Tree Top PC - Computer Lab
- Digging Dunes - Games and Activities
- The Quest - Story Time
- Serengeti Creation - Drama and Music
- Night Skies Cinema - Movies
6th, 7th and 8th Grade Bible Study: This program is for children in the middle school grades and is designed to allow them to explore how God’s Word applies to them. They meet in an informal class setting with an adult facilitator to help generate discussion and tackle the tough issues facing our children in today’s chaotic world. The class is held on Sunday mornings from 9:15 – 10:15 a.m.
Children’s Christmas Worship Service: Every Christmas season our children put on a worship service for our congregation. Through songs and drama they pass along the wonderful message of God’s love through the birth of Jesus.
Vacation Bible School (VBS): Every summer we offer a VBS program in partnership with Swan Valley United Methodist Church. The program is offered not only to our children, but open to the greater community to help bring God’s Word to those who may not normally receive it. This is a fast-paced, fun program utilizing four to five different activities based around a common week-long theme.
