Lessons and Carols Service

We are finalizing our Christmas Worship plans (I know it's early, but we have to plan ahead). We are in need of Readers for the Lessons & Carols service at 10:30am on Sunday, December 25th. There will only be 1 service this day and we are in need of 6 additional Readers. The lessons are between 4-15 verses (depending on the lesson) and you don't have to be a "regular" Reader to volunteer. You will receive the reading ahead of time, so that you have time to review and read it through.  If you are interested feel free to post here, call the office, or send an email. We hope to finalize all the Readers by November 23rd.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Thank you in advance for your service!

Wellness Warriors

We will continue to meet every Tuesday at 6:15 p.m. We are flexible with the exercise based on the abilities of those who attend each week.  The goal is to move and support each other!  Come check us out!

Questions? Contact Kris Friend (989) 245-6446 or Rita Hendrickson (989) 482-0271.

We welcome you to Ascension Lutheran Church.  We are a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). We are a community of faith who rely on the power and the teachings of Jesus as we navigate this world and life together.  We don’t have all the answers, and we aren’t perfect-and we believe in the one who is!  If you are in a close relationship with Jesus, or just beginning to get to know him–Ascension is a place for you to share your journey.   Come worship with us.  Join us in an event.  Come and see.

Preschool and Elementary Youth Children’s Church/Sunday School
Weekly during the
10:30 a.m. worship service
(September – May)
The youth, 4 years old through 5th grade, will begin worship with their families, and after the Children’s Message, be dismissed with their teachers to experience the Word, or message of worship in a more age appropriate way. We will then return to worship as an entire congregation during the peace, so that our youth will still receive Communion/Prayers.

We are currently reading:

September thru May on Monday Evenings

Our next Bible Study began on Monday, November 7, 2022 at 6:00-7:30 p.m. at Ascension in the Digging Dunes room.  We will study Max Lucado’s “Because of Bethlehem: Love Is Born, Hope Is Here”.  Bestselling Author and Pastor Max Lucado will guide us through the Advent season to its source at an unassuming stable in Bethlehem.  No one expected the Messiah to come the way he did.  Yet the way he came was every bit as important as the coming itself.  The manger is the message. This is a four-week class and participant books are $8.00 payable at the first class.  We encourage all women to attend as we strive to learn more about our Lord in our faith journey.  Please sign up at the kiosk in the Gathering area or call/text Joyce Richardson at 989-274-6787 so we may have a book for you.  All women are welcome!

Mary to Martha is open to women of all ages, and stages of faith, members & non-members, as we seek a closer relationship with our Lord.  We know that you’ll be blessed by God’s Word and fellowship with other women, and we’ll be blessed by your presence.

We believe that all people are at the same time a saint and a sinner.  No matter how hard we try, we will fail to do what we are to do; and we will do things we know we should not.  As a community of faith, we believe we are strengthened and encouraged by each other to live out the gospel in every aspect of our lives
